Adoption Searches

Adoption searches help individuals find birth parents, adopted siblings, or other family members. Adoptees may search for adoption records for a variety of reasons, including to learn about their family history or to reunite with birth family. Please see below for more information on how to access information.

Indiana:

To search for adoption information in Indiana, you can register with the Adoption Matching Registry. This registry is for adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, and birth siblings.

To request information regarding an Indiana adoption can be found through the Indiana Department of Health.

Kentucky:

The Adoption Services Branch conducts birth parent searches for adult adoptees who are 21 years of age and older. These searches are only for adoptions finalized in Kentucky. Non-identifying information from the adoption record may be requested if you are 21 years old, or if a minor, the adopted parents may request the information. Please contact the Adoption Services Branch for the request form. There is no fee for this service.
